Wireless Outdoor Thermometers And Rain Gauges

Posted by admin on October 12th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

The sensors in wireless indoor outdoor thermometer And Rain Gauges and rain gauges let you measure rainfall and detect temperatures from up to 100 feet from the device. Another great thing about a wireless system is that it converts Fahrenheit to Celsius and back swiftly. That may save you time and bewilderment by eliminating the need to use paper and pen or a calculator to guesstimate. A wireless thermometer and digital rain gauge solves time problems efficiently. Most thermometers can be simply transported from place to place and mounted most anywhere, but a wireless is movable and it can capture 2 readings.

There are 2 things a person has to do when buying a digital rain gauge and wireless combo. Firstly, you must decide on which to buy, and 2nd, you want to be ready to install and synchronize the rain gauge. When settling on a , one of the most vital things to consider is price range. When you create a budget, then you know how much you want to pay and can eliminate the necessity to look at thermometers that are out of your price range.

Depending on the rain gauge, many additional features are available that will add to the price of the unit. You need to evaluate whether you actually need these added features before purchasing. Outside thermometers come in numerous styles and can run the gambit of basic and practical to hi-tech and expensive.

When setting up a /rain gauge wireless device, you must follow certain steps. First, you want to remove the base unit as well as the remote unit from the packaging and do a fast inspection of them to be certain everything is present and in the right location. This step can help you avoid wasting time synchronizing the device if there is clearly a missing part or piece. Now may be the time to install the batteries in each unit.

Often, the synchronization process will require the person to follow precise instructions that are included with the rain gauge unit. Some devices use a radio clock that must also be synchronized and set to the proper time sector.

It’s usually pretty simple and straightforward to mount the units. Most wireless outdoor thermometers are simply mounted using the sticky backing found on the remote. Some do require that you screw them into place. It is best to keep the remotes inside fifty to one hundred feet of the base in order to ensure they work properly. After completing some straightforward steps you’ll always have the important info you must start the day.

Home Weather Stations Unleashed

Home Stations Unleashed

A sensor-free or virtual home weather station is forecast weather station, weather station with girl with umbrellabecoming an attractive option for those with the climate bug. The two main choices are between a PC-based program or a standalone station receiving signals from a service. Both can be very accurate when the readings are taken in close proximity to your home or within your micro-climate.

Buy Your Own Home Weather Station

Having your own instruments does provide the most accurate readings for your location. However, a wayward ball, frisky animal, or curious child can wreak havoc on outdoor equipment. Time and the elements can do the same as years go by. In addition, setting up a station and sensors can be quite challenging for those who lack the time or mechanical skills.

The advent of websites that link to local stations has created new opportunities for enthusiasts around the world. One only needs to point their Internet browser toward a site like the Underground or WeatherBug, and they can view real time data from a station in the neighborhood. Sites like these also provide historical readings and the ability to observe conditions in countless regions. Subscriptions are free with an option of paying for certain premium services.

By tapping into services like MSN Direct, standalone stations can provide current conditions without any additional sensors. Stations are actually pulling information from commercial instruments maintained by the service. Readings are updated every two minutes and include wind, rain, chance of rain, and humidity. NWS warnings are also carried on the network.

Proximity to the receiving instruments is key to the quality of options for home stations. If a service maintains instruments nearby, the virtual station becomes almost identical to having your own instruments. If a service has stations that are far away or in a different micro-climate, readings can be very different from current conditions.

home weather station forecast, forecast weather stationThe deciding factor in opting for a virtual station is most often the proximity factor. Website services tend to have an incredible number of participating stations, to the point that a single town may have multiple sites to choose from. Services to stations like MSN Direct are limited to metropolitan areas and require more research.

The thrill of tracking a storm in real time is possible without the expense and care of your own sensors. Many who were once intimidated by setting up their own home station have satisfied their passion by going virtual. The options now available for home stations leave much room for personal preference, aptitude, and enjoyment.

Weather Insturments For The Home

Posted by admin on May 13th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

The interest in weather instruments for the home has increased dramatically in the last weather station for kids, kids weather stationseveral years because of shifting patterns and new discoveries in meteorology. Everyone from young kids to retirees has found that keeping track of various aspects of the changing can be both educational and fun. It can also help people ensure their own safety during a emergency.

Keep Track of the Weather in Your Area With a Wireless Weather Stations

There are a variety of weather instruments you can get for home use. Prices range anywhere from ten to hundreds of dollars, depending on the quality, materials and type of instruments you get. Some of the most popular weather instruments include:

o Barometers - these track the change in the weather instruments, forecast the weatherpressure in the atmosphere. Changes in this pressure reveal whether a change in the is coming; a drop in pressure signals a low pressure front moving in.

o Thermometers - Easily the most popular of all home instruments, thermometers measure the of the immediately surrounding air. You can get ones that measure both indoor and outdoor temperatures.

o Rain Gauges - These range from simple cylinders to complex mechanical models, but all do the same thing - measure the actual rainfall in inches during a particular time period. This is often one of the first instruments (after the ) that children are introduced to, and they love keeping track of the rainfall in their own yard.

o Weather StationsWeather stations are battery or electric controlled stations that track several different measurements you would usually need several different lacrosse weather station, la cross weather station, la crosse weather stationinstruments for. A typical desk-top station might track the phases of the moon, the , pressure, humidity and provide forecasts for the next twenty-four hours based on the changing conditions of each reading.

o Tide Clocks - Track the timing of the ingoing and outgoing tides in coastal areas. While most instruments are of use everywhere, this is one that is primarily of value to mariners, surfers and other ocean coast dwellers.

Keeping Safe - the Importance of Radios

One of the instruments that few people weather radio, radio for the weatherare familiar with, but everyone should have, are radios. These radios are specifically designed to pick up low frequency radio signals that are broadcast from various stations across the country providing twenty-four hour updates and emergency bulletins. radios typically have both visual and auditory warning signals whenever there is a emergency in your area. These may be sirens, flashing lights, alert tones or recorded warning messages to alert you to turn up the radio.

The updates and radio broadcasts are of constantly updated information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Many radios can be programmed using ‘SAME,’ meaning Specific Area Message Encoding. This restricts broadcasts that are received to information pertinent to your local area.

instruments are useful for any number of reasons, from knowing how much you need to water your garden (rain gauges) to knowing how to dress for the day. But instruments are also simply a fun and educational way to learn more about the atmosphere and the world around us. And finally, with instruments such as radios, we can rest easy knowing we will be warned of a emergency as quickly as possible.

Read Online Reviews Before You Buy

Posted by admin on May 10th, 2009 filed in Other

I recently purchased a wireless adapter for my computer from an electronics store. I bought it because I thought it must be the best one since it had the highest price good quality simply because it was expensive.

Unfortunatly when I took it home and installed it into my desktop I found that it one big problem: It messed up my desktop’s audio. I then went online and Googled it and found that many other people had experienced this same issue. If I had only done that research before I bought it, I would have saved myself a good amount of time and money. By the way, the wireless adapter I bought is the D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme N Desktop Adapter. Obviously I cannot recommend it.

My favorite website for informative product reviews is Smart Reviews for Smart Consumers.

These are just two examples of good products that have received good reviews from this site:

#1 Earth 4 Energy: More and more people are interested in making their own electricity at home. If you are interested in joining them then the Earth4Energy guide is essential. It shows you exactly how to build your own windmills or solar panels in order to create your own power.

#2 Nintendo Wii Rock Band: This has to be the funnest video game ever if you are really into music. I love every aspect of it but I think the drums are what really puts it over the edge. Rock Band is amazing. If you own a Wii you should definitely buy it.

These are only two examples of the many great products you will find reviewed on this website. It’s a great idea to just go browsing through the website and looking for something that looks interesting to you. You may find something really cool that you want to buy that you did not even know about.

I think it should be obvious that it’s of utmost importance to research what you are thinking about buying before you actually buy it.

This is a big reason, along with how easy it is, that I only shop online now. Why shop “in real life” when it’s a pain and it’s easy to make the wrong decision at a local store?

The Major Advantages of Solar Power

Posted by admin on May 6th, 2009 filed in Other

Decisions can be a hard thing to make, especially when they affect your way of life and your family. Looking into energy sources and ways to be more respectful of the planet can be daunting – there are so many advertisements. What you really need to know are the main advantages of going solar and then the choice will be easy.

Like most things in life, money is the first and largest reason to go with solar energy. Face it, energy bills are expensive and solar power is the best answer to saving money on those bills, either by eliminating them entirely or by taking a huge bite out of them.

If you take your home entirely off the power grid (no incoming electric power from the power company) you can expect to see massive savings as you will no longer be paying the electric company. If you choose to be inter-tied, for example to only heat your home water supply with solar power and use electricity for everything else, you can expect to see a huge savings but you will still have an electric bill to pay.

Another great advantage of solar power is that it can be inexpensive to set up. Anyone who can do a little DIY can build a homemade power system, such as a solar powered generator for a few hundred dollars. This alone can provide enough power to heat your water.

With a set of simple, comprehensive set of instructions an ordinary person can build solar panels and link them together, providing enough power to heat your home. The parts needed are relatively inexpensive and some can even be found for free.

Building it yourself is another savings in itself. If you paid for someone to build your solar generator you would know how expensive labor is – that is why solar energy is considered expensive. People don’t think they can build them but they can. It’s easily done with the right information.

It really is that easy to save money with solar energy, but what else can you do with the solar energy you are harvesting?

Household power needs are extensive and vary greatly. You could choose to use solar power just for your heating and air conditioning system or your major appliances in your kitchen. On the other hand you could transform your entire house to solar energy all at once or slowly, it’s up to you. Build a portable solar generator to have around for odd jobs outside to use in emergencies.

By understanding that solar energy can be harnessed to power anything electrical makes the savings implications for business magnify significantly. Imagine how much the average business spends on heating, cooling, and running their computers. If just one of these high-energy costs were placed on a solar powered grid that business could ultimately save thousands of dollars over the course of a year.

Armed with the knowledge of knowing why solar power is advantageous goes a long way in helping you make the right decision about your energy needs. Knowing the main advantages to using solar energy makes it easy to decide to switch. And knowing you can do it yourself on the cheap is even better.

If you are interested in learning more about do it yourself solar and wind powered systems then I publish various articles, guides and reviews on this subject. I highly recommend your read my Earth4Energy Review to find out what you expect to gain with a homemade power system.

Home Weather Stations, More Than Just a Temperature Reading

Posted by admin on April 9th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

There are many uses for wireless station.

One of the biggest uses of the wireless weather station is for in your house. If you have one, you can set up in the kitchen and put the weather device anywhere in your house, in some cases up to 80 ft. away.

Wireless Home Weather Stations Sold Here

Why this important?

It’s important because you can set the gauge away from heating vents and direct sunlight. The weather device will give you a much more accurate reading if it is not in sunlight.la crosse wireless home weather station, lacross weather station

If you get an indoor outdoor one, you’re able to set the device away from the house. The gauges you attach to the windows are inaccurate because they pull the heat from your house and the range can fluctuate by 15 degrees.

Some wireless weather stations can actually predict the with 70% accuracy. This can be quite helpful in planning your day.

If you have one that has the humidity reading on it, it can be an invaluable tool.

For inside the home you can see if your house is getting too dry. You want the humidity of your house to be at about 40% in the winter. This is optimal to keep you and your family healthy.

When the humidity in your house gets to low you have a much higher chance of developing a cough and cold. Set up the reading device away from the heat register in your house so you know when you need to run your humidifier.

If you have a greenhouse the humidity indicator is wonderful because you will no longer have to guess whether or not the humidity is at the optimal level for your plants to thrive.

There are many uses for wireless weather station whether you are growing the state record plant or are just trying to see how to dress your kids for school.

Understanding Weather Instruments

Instruments

 Wireless Home Weather Stations

Our atmosphere is unique not only because it sustains millions of life forms, but also because it fluctuates as our needs change, to accommodate adaptations. Weather conditions can be measured in a number of ways.

The Earth’s surface conditions are observed via automated machines. These instruments are also referred to as AWOS or ASOS. There are a number of wireless digital thermometer, indoor / outdoor weather stationairports around the world that maintain sites that are manned to support the machines at weather stations. These sites calculate , dew point, visibility and winds. The thermometer is used to measure . It reveals maximum or minimum readings for the National Service. The results are then aired or televised all over the world, and affect the working of various related industry individual undertakings.

is measured with the help of a barometer, while a rain gauge measures precipitation. There are two types of barometers; the Mercury and Aneroid barometer. weather station with barometerThe Mercury Barometer comprises a glass tube inserted in mercury. As the external air exerts pressure on the mercury within, the action forces a certain amount of the mercury to enter the tube. The height or level of mercury is always directly proportional to the atmospheric pressure outside. The psychrometer measurements on the , humidity and dew point is got on dipping the wick in distilled water. In the sling psychrometer, the measurements are taken by whirling the instrument.

The sling psychrometer works on the level of evaporation of water from the wick on the wet bulb . This leads to cooling and with the help of the Relative Humidity Table, the difference in results in the understanding of the level of relative humidity, in percent. The sling psychrometer reading can be accessed from a mobile or stable weather station to measure , dew point and the relative humidity, any time of the day. This instrument is a must at any weather station, especially those at higher altitudes.

Most weather stations maintain readings from two major types of rain gauges. One is the tipping bucket and the other is the ‘weighing’ rain gauge. The rain gauge, as the name suggests rightly, measures rainfall over a pre determined period of time. This instrument consists of a funnel at the upper end. The aim is to direct the rain water into the long and narrow cylinder within the larger outer cylinder. The readings of this instrument are very important to calculate the rainfall received and compare it to the previous year’s readings. This enables the Bureau to realize effective measures and timely steps to prevent a further drop or get geared for an over-douse!

weather stations with wind instruments also include the anemometer that measures the speed of wind and the wind wane that indicates wind direction. Together they are especially useful to the world of civil aviation. Humidity levels can be measure with the help of a hygrometer. This instrument measures relative humidity or the moisture in the surrounding air. This is achieved by measuring the change in the length of an organic fiber due to absorption of moisture.

The radiosonde or rawinsonde is another important instrument. It is basically a complete kit or set up of the different instruments attached to a balloon. On release, the kit radios the air observations at different altitudes, back to earth! A Barograph provides a consistent report on the . A Nephoscope is used for measuring and calculating speed and direction of cloud motion. The grids in the Grid Nephoscope are referential, while the vertical pointer in the Mirror Nephoscope enables observation of the image of a cloud at the center of the disk, keeping in line with the pointer.

The readings obtained from the different instruments maintained at the weather stations all over the world also work towards a synchronized approach to deal with the timely identification of a deterioration of the atmospheric envelop we so depend on.

Forecast Weather With Your Own Home Weather Station

Posted by admin on April 5th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

Wireless Home Weather Stations

I Don’t Care What the Weatherman Says

It is clear that weather forecasting is only predictable up to a certain point. This is due to the huge number of differing influences that can affect a predictable climate. Topgraphy, sea , wind speed, city heat islands…these are just some of the variables that mean weather forecasting is unlikely to ever be an exact science.

However general patterns exist and simply by measuring the and noticing its trends, you can get a pretty good idea yourself of what sort of is on its way.

lacross weather station, lacrosse weather stationSo how do we measure the ? Well technology has advanced so much that we can all measure the weather wirelessly from the comfort of our own home. The main devices you will need to measure your are a Barometer (to measure ), a (for outdoor ), an anemometer (or wind gauge, to measure wind speed) and a weathervane (for wind direction). There are other items you could add to this list such as a a pluviometer (rain gauge) and hygrometer (measuring moisture content in the atmosphere). And of course more advanced wireless weather stations will contain each of the above mentioned capabilities.

Click here to find a Wireless Weather Station with these features.

1. Barometers.

Pressure is the pressure of the atmosphere over the surface of the Earth. Pressure, also known as , is easily measured using a Barometer. These devices measure most commonly with mercury or water. Barometers come in all shapes and sizes and are frequently sought for their ornamental or decorative value as much as a tool for . But these days a wireless outdoor barometer is cheap and accurate, and essential for you to measure the pressure trends in the .

2. Thermometers.

Wireless thermometers are now becoming increasingly manual thermometerpopular as they enable the user to monitor outdoor temperatures from the comfort of their own home. Also they measure the maximum and minimum temperatures. So if you are expecting a record low overnight, you don’t have to stay up all night checking!

3.Anemometer. (wind gauge)

An Anemometer, or Wind Gauge, is a device used to measure the speed of the wind.
The simplest type weather forecast standards, weather stations standardsof wind gauge is the cup-anemometer, consisting of four hemispherical cups mounted horizontally to each other on a vertical shaft. Generally Anemometers can be broadly split into 2 groups, Hand Held and Wireless.

The benefit of a hand held anemometer is that you can take it wherever you are, at the top of a mountain or on a cliff face overlooking the ocean, and record the wind speed at that exact moment. A wireless anemometer however allows you to take the wind speed at a fixed point and is often incorporated within wireless weather stations. It is important with a fixed wind gauge to ensure that it is as high as possible above the ground to reduce interfering eddy currents from nearby buildings. On the top of your roof is generally a good position or if you have a large open garden then place it at the end furthest away from buildings, trees and walls.

4. Weathervane.

Weathervanes (also know as wind vanes) have been used throughout history as awireless home weather station models, weather station with wind means to gauge wind direction. They are a device attached to any elevated object to indicate the wind direction. Often a weathervane will be incorporated in your fixed anemometer. Of course wind direction is less accurately measured simply by being outside and gauging which direction the breeze is coming from, or which direction the clouds are moving.

Now that you have all these variables you are already your own weather forecaster. You can watch trends in the pressure to see if the pressure is rising or falling, the variations in and wind speed and direction. What else can a weatherman tell you?

With a little dedication maybe you will start your own diary or blog and publish your own particular conditions and trends for the world to see. Or pit your wits against the professionals and see if you can begin to better than they!

Whatever the , enjoy it!

Wireless Stations - The New "Must Have" Gadget

Wireless Weather Stations - Click Here

How many times have you checked the weather forecast on the TV in the morning, weather station with girl with umbrella, solar-powered home weather stationonly to notice later in the day that the you experienced did not match the ? The geography of your local area could be responsible for creating a micro-climate that is at odds with the wider region, or the could just have been too general to be accurate for your area.

Whatever the reason, it can be frustrating. The solution comes in the form of the latest "must have" gadget for your home — the wireless weather station. Banish from your mind’s eye any images of you braving the howling wind or pouring rain to read an outdoor or barometer. The biggest advantage of a wireless weather station is exactly that — it’s wireless.

To set up your weather station you simply mount the supplied wireless sensor on the outside of your house or in your garden. It is small and unobtrusive, so there are no ugly aerials, cables or other paraphernalia to worry about. You can position the sensor up to about 30m away from the base station.

la crosse internet weather station, indoor / outdoor weather stationsAlthough there are many different makes and models of weather station available, most of the base stations are stylish, well designed items of home electronics that will not look out of place in the most modern of homes. There are free-standing desk top or wall-mounting versions with large, clear digital displays. The data collected by the sensor is transmitted to and displayed by the base station which you can locate anywhere in your home. Time and date are often radio controlled, so you never need to worry about setting them, they are updated automatically.

Prices start from as little as $20 for a basic, single sensor model that monitors only a few things like inside and outside and humidity. But you can spend up to several hundred dollars on a professional model with additional sensors to monitor pressure, wind speed and direction and rainfall. For this price you should expect to get features like touch screen functionality, solar powered sensors, and a data upload facility to your PC.

A wireless weather station is sophisticated simplicity, is a great gift for the watcher, outdoor enthusiast or avid gardener in your life and makes an attractive and very functional addition to your home.

Weather Stations for The Home

Posted by admin on March 24th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

What are Wireless Stations?

 View Wireless Weather Station

With the recent event and natural disasters I began to think recently about a few things. One of my biggest questions during my thoughts is: What happens if the gets so bad that the power goes out or even a new station loses broadcast with us? What do we do if we don’t know what the next few moments could bring or even the next day? Then I began to search around and I found a handy tool that may be just what we all need; a wireless weather station.

So what is a wireless weather station? It is a device that simply does not require a wire that can tell you may thing about the and happenings outside. Not only is this sort of device great for emergencies but has hundreds of practical uses and things that it can do. A few of the features are rainfall prediction, wind speed and direction, indoor outdoor gauges, pressure readings, humidity, incoming storm readings and more. Now you can already start to imagine some of the very useful features of a tool like this. Wireless weather stations could become very practical in many household due to their small storage and tracking abilities.

A wireless weather station could be very handy for a farmer or even an avid gardener. As the abilities to gauge pressure and rainfall sure could help with crop and garden plantings. Or perhaps you own a green house and need to know if its going to freeze or not outside; this instrument could prove very useful and easy at the click of a button. The built in clock on a wireless weather station could prove useful as well, you could potential take it with you while you work and be able to tell what the will be like.

Another very unique function on some of the wireless weather stations is the portable ability. Most weather stations can run on either AA or AAA batteries or even an AC adapter. Some weather stations allow the ability to take them with you on trips and easily clip on your visor or dash in your car. That feature alone would come in very handy on a camping or fishing trip. Some stations needs to be within a few hundreds feet of their main station that you set up in the house and that to can run on an AC adapter or batteries. Again this item seems to appear handy during major or even minor storms where you can’t get the news or have a working radio. A few of the other wireless stations I have found online have a cool function of being able to use solar powered remotes with them. So you charge it by sunlight and don’t even need batteries which could come in handy if you were stranded and the batteries died or many other reasons.

In closing a wireless weather station has many uses and could be useful in any household. If you think you could ever need a tool like this I suggest you check into one. You never know when something like a wireless station may come in handy.

Wireless Stations - The New Age of

 Buy a Wirless Weather Station

Mankind has always had a fascination with the climate and its many vagaries and this fascination has now been brought into our homes. with the popularity of the wireless weather station.

These nifty little gadgets keep track of , , humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall and even rainfall rate! And they also come with an inbuilt severe alarm to warn you of forthcoming storms. These alarms work on the principle that a sudden storm is preceded by a rapid drop in . Simple but clever. My alarm is normally triggered maybe once or twice a year, but if you live in an area renown for extreme a wireless weather station may prove to be very handy indeed.

More and more these stations are being designed to be aesthetically pleasing. The clinical electronic modern look can be replaced by a more retro design for the sentimental amongst us, but without losing any of the modern technology and functionality of course.

Wireless weather stations are ideal for use in the the office, looking far classier (in my opinion) than the desktop executive toys of the 80’s and 90’s. Professional weather stations have PC connections and related software. Wireless Weather Stations are very useful and are clearly the most convenient of all instruments. Radio waves transmit measurements from the remote sensors to the indoor display console, and this is the principle of wireless technology, which although very new is becoming an essential part of our day to day electronic living. Just look at the proliferation of wireless laptops.

A wireless weather station reads the indoor conditions as well as those outdoors. Some units are supplied with several consoles so you may locate them at various points around your home and garden. The station is also an automatically updating clock and calendar. It’s great to have the ability to measure all these climatic conditions from one simple console. It doesn’t seem two minutes since Bill Giles and Michael Fish were plying their trade with magnetic stick on clouds and a certain amount of guesswork.

So while you sit in your favourite chair, watching the telly and eating a snack, enjoy the sound of the rain on your window and the wind in the trees in perfect comfort.Let us indulge our passion with the and become amateur meteorologists. I reckon we can now give the professionals a decent run for their money.

Best Weather Station For You

Wireless

Our close fascination with the is being aided by the ever growing popularity of the wireless weather station.

 Find Wireless Weather Stations Here

wireless multi channel thermometers, weather station with barometer and internet Wireless stations are gadgets for determining the , , , humidity, and other factors. Wireless stations are great for the home or office with professional units having PC connections and related software. These professional wireless stations are easy to install and have the flexibility to change the location of the console without having to drill a new hole and move the cable. Wireless Stations are very useful and are clearly the most convenient of all instruments.

Many of these units come with inbuilt alarms set to alert you of certain conditions. My personal unit’s alarm is only triggered maybe once a year, but when it does I know there’s some severe on the way. Depending on the model you select, , humidity, pressure and other types of information such as wind measurement can all be monitored within the comfort of your home. Of course if you have a built in anemometer (wind gauge) then you need it to be located away from any obstructions to the prevailing wind. The roof is generally a good place.manual weather station, honeywell weather station, la crosse weather stations

Wireless home weather stations use radio waves to transmit their measurements from the remote sensors to the indoor display console. This console can not only tell you the climate readings outside, but with a touch of a button will tell you the conditions inside as well! Some units can come with several consoles so you may locate then at various points around your home or garden.

Wireless home stations typically cost more than the older cabled units but it is often worth spending the extra money for the increase in convenience. Before making your station purchase, you should consider several issues related to wireless digital station technology: Manufacturers usually specify a transmission range rating based upon "open air," meaning a direct line of sight path with no obstructions (walls, etc. To make a more realistic lacrosse weather station, weather station with girl with umbrellaestimate of the distances required between components in your installation it is recommended to review the station set up information for the individual unit of your choice.) Another minor problem can be radio frequency interference (RFI). Generally speaking though, this is not a major issue, as there are millions of wireless home stations operating without any problems. Finally, the altitude where your wireless digital station is going to be installed can also be an issue with regard to the accuracy of pressure measurements. Many stations have a transmission range of up to 330 feet, overcoming most problems effecting home wireless stations.

Also, and this is the case for many people, if is your only interest, a wireless may be all that you need at a much cheaper price than the full station. Many of these stations also feature radio controlled clocks, which are accurate to the second and updated daily automatically.

Wireless Weather Station, the Ideal

Posted by admin on March 16th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

How To Select the Ideal Home Station

Your Ideal Home Weather Station is Here!

Have you ever considered buying your very own home weather station? Not that I’m selling them, but I believe I may be able to help you decide what to look for.

There are certainly many good reasons for having a modern station set up and working in your home.

Not the least of these is that they have never before been so easy to install and use, never had so many useful features, and certainly never been such good value.

How Your Own Home Weather Station Will Benefit You

The overall benefits of a home station are huge.

Modern home stations bring the outdoors inside to you, as outside sensors weather station for the home, solar-powered weather stationfrequently and regularly transmit information to an attractively designed receiver/display unit, which can be set up almost anywhere in your home.

Home stations can provide crucial information about approaching bad , as well as giving you valuable data you can use to help maintain your garden, greenhouse, pond or aviary, or even to decide what to wear when you venture outside.

But best of all, they provide a painless way of understanding the , and what drives it. After all, provides the background to all our outdoor hobbies, sport and recreation. And many people have found that a strong appreciation of has led in many unexpected and enjoyable directions.

So there could be any number of reasons why you first considered a station as a possible addition to your home, including just a general interest in .

Let’s think about what the ideal home station might be.

The Ideal Home Weather Station

  • Firstly, it should be a wireless station - no worries about where the cables go. And it certainly will be able to record , humidity, , wind strength and direction, and rainfall.
  • Next, the radio’s range must be great enough so that you have no problems with installing the sensors in the best place to obtain realistic data for your location - no problems with trees or buildings affecting your results because your best position was out of radio range. No problem about the room the receiver goes in because the ideal transmitter can handle a wall or two. And it should be able to operate free of any governmental restrictions on radio frequency, allowing fast and reliable data updates. Most of the likely problems are overcome with a radio range of 300 feet (91m) or more
  • Thirdly, your sensor is shielded so your readings are not affected by direct heat from the sun.
  • Fourthly it should be easy to install. A purpose built stand would be nice.

Click Here to Purchase a Home Weather Station

So far so good. You’d be up and running in no time at all, and you’d be able to place the receiver in a location that suits you rather than the radio link.

  • Now you have a couple of concerns about and wind strength, as it affects your garden. A few programmable warnings would be nice.
  • And so would a charting facility so you could review changing patterns over the last few hours, or days, or months, for almost any variable.
  • In fact, you can see a few good reasons for linking your station to your computer, where some well designed software allows you to follow up a whole range of thoughts and trends.
  • You’ve noticed that there are a number of private stations on the net, reporting online data just like you are getting from your set up. But there’s a gap in information in your area, and you feel like you’d like to join the network - maybe even become a volunteer station in your area. And after a little bit of research, you find that it’s no problem at all. Even better, you’ve just found a large group of interesting people with similar interests to yourself, scattered over the country, even the world.

davis vantage 2 weather station, touch screen weather stationAll of these features can be found in quite a number of home stations, ranging in price from less than $150.00, if you are prepared to look around. However, like most things in life, you tend to get what you pay for, and the better models start around the $450.00 mark. Keep the name "Davis" in the back of your mind.

This doesn’t mean that the lower priced home stations should be disregarded, particularly if your budget is tight. It just means that your station will work better and last longer if you take some care in setting it up and maintaining it, including early preventative maintenance.

Weather Station Reviews from the Consumer

Posted by admin on March 15th, 2009 filed in Wireless Home Weather Stations

My Home Station - Why I Enjoy it so Much

Buy Your Own

I’ve always been a bit of a closet enthusiast. Ask me what the ’s going to do, and I’d give you a 3-4 day off the top of my head.

Well that got a bit embarrassing when the turned out differently, and I’ve had to take some good-natured kidding. However, things have changed since I got my own wireless weather station! The base receiver sits on my desk, and I have access at a glance to a range of data, which is measured right at my place rather than the general for the area, and that has improved my hit rate considerably.

Most of the info is for recording purposes only, and I am particularly interested in what the max/min temperatures are doing, and the icons give a good indicator of where the pattern is headed. In addition to , the unit also measures pressure and humidity (indoor and out, including max/min).

Since we’re in a fairly windy area, it would also be interesting to see what speed the wind gusts are getting up to, so as soon as I can afford it I’d like to get a La Crosse professional weather station, which also measures wind direction and wind chill factor, dew point, and rainfall. The pro station can tell the rainfall over 1 hour, 24 hours and total rainfall - just as well all data can be uploaded to a PC so one can review the stats over a period. I remember how my father-in-law painstakingly used to record daily rainfall on the farm into a notebook and then manually calculate weekly, monthly and annual rainfall. I can’t imagine where I’d find the time nowadays…

What’s also neat about wireless stations is that they provide a wide range of alarm settings, which one can set to warn of stormy , high winds, critical temperatures etc., but I’ll stop dreaming for the moment - hopefully I can get that pro station soon.

Which Is The Best Station For You - A Wireless

 Find The Best Here

A station is a great tool to have for your home or business in order to track and conditions. But stations come in both wired and wireless configurations and each type has its pros and cons. Which is the best for you?

Wireless weather stations transfer data by the means of radio waves and are more convenient wireless weather station, compare weather station to install since no cables need to be run. However they can suffer from RF interference in some isolated cases. A wireless station also usually carries a higher purchase price than an equivalent wired station.

With a wired weather station you need not worry about RF interference but there is the extra work of running all the cabling which generally involves drilling holes in walls, etc. Also with a wired station there is the potential risk from a lightning strike. wired weather station, home weather stationsTo ensure a safe installation you must install lightning arrestors and ground all sensor poles. A licensed electrician is your best friend for a scenario like this as you want to make sure it’s done right.

In summary the pros of a wireless station are ease of installation and no risk of lightning striking a sensor and traveling to your home or business. The cons of a wireless station are the potential to pick up RF interference and the higher purchase cost. The pros of a wired station are the lower purchase price and that they don’t pick up RFI. The cons are they are harder to install as you have to run cables and they have to be installed correctly to minimize the risk from lightning.

Regardless of which way you go, wireless or wired, a station is a great investment for your home, business or farm.

Compare Davis, La Crosse, Honeywell, and Oregon Weather Stations

Wireless Outdoor Station The Best And How To Buy

Does the bug have you? Do you want to know what the actual temperatures are at your own little part of the planet? Davis Instruments Weather Stations can be just the cure. There are lots of stations to choose from. If your needs are simple and you just want to record the outside your backyard, then an outdoor might be all you require. If, however, you think that you really want the ultimate station to take observations of the rain, wind, atmospheric pressure, and humidity then a ultimate wireless model will be what you are looking for. You will be glad to know, there are some excellent choices out there.

When mulling over which model to buy it will be nice to know some more about the different manufacturers. The four manufacturers that are talked about here all supply a wide choice of products, and getting to know a little more about them will help in getting the Digital Station that fits you the best.

 View Wireless Home Weather Stations

Davis Instruments - The choices from this manufacturer can be found in a wide range of applications. Their models are used by meteorologists, farmers, teachers, equipment operators, hobbyists, and others who want high quality choices. They have been manufacturing quality products since 1963 and are a privately held company. Some of their more popular choices are the Davis Vantage Pro2 stations.

La Crosse Technology - Was the first to bring clocks to the United States market that could be set on a regular basis by Atomic Clocks that are operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. They have been in business since 1985 and are a well-known corporation.

Oregon Scientific - Began business in Portland, Oregon in 1989. They supply a wide range of stations. Some of the choices they supply are well known for their value. They also supply a excellent range of products for those starting out with limited funds. They are now part of Integrated Display Technology which is based in Hong Kong and founded in 1977.

Honeywell - The choices from this company are produced by Hideki Electronics who are part of K&P International Holding Limited and have been doing business since 1989. Their stations are manufactured in China.

One of the best attributes of the new Davis Instruments stations is the introduction of wireless technology. When searching your new station, make sure that you take note if it has this capability. It sure saves channelling hundreds of feet of cable through your home out to the backyard or other distant location. There is wireless technology available that will let you mount your sensors a long way from the main console.

When shopping for the lowest price it may be advantageous considering other factors as well before buying. Even though some of the prices can get reasonably high, the best prices might not always be the best decision. The best stations contain electronics and sensors that while reliable, are not something you generally repair on your own. If you ever need to make contact with the retailer for customer service, you may want to know they are going to be there to assist you. Support comes at a cost and if you have acquired from some of the vendors that provide huge discounts you might find any problems difficult to solve.

Wireless Home Weather Stations, What are They?

Seven Common Questions About Home Stations (And Their Answers)
 by: Graham McClung

Have you ever started a conversation with a comment about the ?

Has an unexpected change created havoc in your garden, pond or aviary, or even damaged your home?

Have you ever noticed that the you experienced during your day was different to that reported by your nearest official station?

Have you ever left home wearing clothing that was too warm or cool for the day’s ?

Or would you just like to know a little more about your local than you can find out from TV or the internet?

A "yes" answer to any of those questions suggests that you could benefit from owning your own home weather station.

 Find One Here

Now is a great time to get a station of your own. Recent improvements mean they have never before been so powerful, so easy to use and install, or so well priced.

I’m sure you’d like to know more, so here are some answers to the seven most commonly asked questions about home stations:

1. What is a Home Station? honeywell home weather station, wireless home weather station

A modern home station consists of one or more sensors which collect data on , humidity, , rainfall, and wind direction and speed from around your home. This information is transferred to a receiver/display console located in the comfort of your home, and updated frequently. The cost and usefulness rises with the number of sensors used.

2. A friend had a station and there were cables everywhere. Why would I want that?

No problems there. Older home stations sent data along thin cables, but you will have no difficulty in finding suitable units which use radio to transmit the information, over effective ranges of 330 feet or more. No wires, no holes in the roof or wall.

3. How difficult are they to set up?

With a little preplanning, it takes little time or effort to get a home station up and running. Once you have chosen the positions for the sensors and receiver, and checked that they are in contact with each other, all you need is some very basic ability with a drill and screwdriver.

4. How reliable are home stations, and what do they cost?

Home stations vary from a simple recorder to multi sensor arrays. Costs start from less than US$30 for the simplest models with a single sensor, up to around $5-600 for a quality home center. More specialized units, designed more for commercial and agricultural uses, run up to $3,000. As in most things, you get what you pay for, and you can expect a $500 model to be stronger and more reliable than something from the lower end of the price range. Compare Home Weather Stations.

Purchase a Reliable Weather Station for Cheap

Nevertheless, with a little bit of preparation and maintenance, you can expect the cheaper models to give good consistent service.

5. Will I just see raw data, or can I expect more?

You can expect a lot more. Most stations offer a range of calculated functions such as relative humidity, dewpoint, heat index and wind chill factor, depending on which sensors are used. Many have a basic ability, correct about three times out of four. Many include alarm functions which can be preset at critical high or low temperatures, high wind speeds etc. Almost all show the time, and many of the simpler ones can double as an alarm clock - imagine being woken in the morning with the console showing both the time and the outside .

6. Can I connect my station to my computer?

In most cases, yes. In fact many of the better stations include software allowing easy connection. A wide range of commercial software is compatible with most station models.

Take it a step further and you can even link your station with automatic heating and watering systems (and much more). Imagine the savings in water use if your irrigation system was controlled by something a little smarter than a timer.

7. What other uses could a home station have?

weather station with barometer and internet, oregon wireless thermometersI’ve mentioned a number of uses in the answers above, but a home station can help out anywhere that wind, rainfall or data is useful. Most stations will handle several sensors - you could check soil to help guide you with spring or fall plantings, pool temperatures, or even temperatures in a baby’s nursery inside your home.

Or you could run a very simple system monitoring temperatures in an outdoor aviary or greenhouse.

On a different track, you can upload your data to a web page - many people do - or contribute to the overall USA picture by sending your information to CWOP (Citizen Observer Program)

There are so many ways to benefit from a home station. But to my mind, I’ve left the best to last.

By observing the around your home, you are opening up a much wider field - the enjoyment of the natural world.

As you see patterns develop in the information you have collected, you’ll start to appreciate the maps, warnings, satellite images, radar and forecasts more. You’ll find yourself watching the clouds, and how they change with variations in or wind direction, and you may even improve on the official forecasts. picnic, home weather station

And overall you’ll find yourself paying more attention to the world outside - not just the sky, wind and clouds but all other aspects of the natural world.

So if you can see a need for a home station, go ahead and get one that suits you. But don’t be surprised if your horizons expand well beyond your own backyard.
